CLAAS NOTES is an open-access, online publication that is free to read, share, and cite. We believe that knowledge should not be hidden behind a paywall.
We accept the following three types of contributions (in ENglish and SPanish):
Abstracts/News Releases
Short abstracts promoting the author’s work, including upcoming publications or presentations.
Short summaries about current or future projects.
Word Limit: 500
Fieldnotes
Personal accounts of experiences from field schools or excavations. Share your stories and insights from the field!
Word Limit: 500–1,000
Articles
Scholarly research typical of academic journals. Students are encouraged to revise term papers for submission.
Word Limit: 1,000–5,500
Citation Style
CLAAS Notes uses the Society for American Archaeology (SAA) Style Guide for in-text citations and reference formatting. Please refer to the guide here.
In-text citations should follow the format (Author-Date).
Additional Notes
CLAAS Notes is not a peer-reviewed journal. Revisions are cursory for basic grammar and spelling corrections to streamline publication.
Authors are responsible for proofreading their work and adhering to the provided submission template.
